Postman and letters

No sure whether this is the right site for this question.

I am semi-disabled and wonder whether I can ask the postman when he calls at my home if he could take a letter for me to post.

You can ask. If he agrees, it will be as a friendly gesture and not within the remit of his job

Agreed. Because Royal Mail actually sell this to business users as an additional service, I fear the answer will be no. Probably against the company policy to allow postmen/women to show this sort of initiative.
