Recently had a new combi boiler installed into my daughters bedroom it's half way up the wall so I will need to build/make something like a cupboard to put it out of sight. I'm a girl and have a few tools and knowledge/experience of joinery but do I have to go down that route? Any suggestions that arn't that much work and cheap welcome.. will need ventilation also.

If you were to box it in a cupboard, you would need to make sure the minimum required installation distances around the boiler were met (to allow for servicing). If you do decide to box it, there is nothing to stop you making it such that the box is easily removable from the wall to allow free access.

Now for the creative idea, why not fix a large framed poster to the front of the boiler large enough to hide the whole boiler & pipery (cheap, easy & attractive if you pick the right poster).
yes im a gas service engineer, please allow plenty of room around the boiler for the casing to be easily removed to allow for servicing and repairs or construct it in a way that the boxing can be easily removed.

i recently went to a womans house to repair her boiler, it was in the bathroom, she had a workman in to hide the boiler, he built a permamant box around it and only left a hole big enough to get to the controls, she then tiled all over the boxing to match her bathroom, we had to spend an hr smashing the lot to bits just to start work, she wasn't very happy but it was either that or freeze to death all winter!

and your modern boilers do not usually need any ventilation, your instruction book will tell you.
