i had a gf who was out of work for 2 months yet she REFUSED to claim the dole. After paying all the tax and seeing all the immigrants turning up outside the job center in nice cars....

It annoyed me so much we broke up about it. The stupid idiot! What do you think?

Is it possible she didn't want to claim dole as the Job Centre would encourage her to actually look for work?
My husband was made redundant and was unemployed for 18 months and wouldn't claim any benefit. He had previously worked for 25 years and therefore paid his taxes. It was a personal decision, his to make and probably linked to his emotionally fragile state at the time.

What his or your partners actions have to do with other people rightfully claiming their own entitlement is beyond me. It was their choice, not because someone was preventing them.

If you fall out with partners just because they at times make decisions you don't agree with, you may end up on your own.
Well done to your gf.

I don't think I would claim either, not because I wouldn't want to work!!

what gives u the right to make predictions about my future relationship status? Ur husband sounds like a drip but im not suprised having an arrogant presumptious tramp of a wife like you.
I was in the same position as your gf a few years ago. I thought i would easily find a job soon so thought it a waste of time to sign on, cause i would be going back in a couple of weeks to sign off again, and didn't think it would be worth the trouble.

I had also never signed on in my life so was somewhat embaressed to do so also.

After a few months went by, i was still thinking ' i will get a job soon', meanwhile i was paying a mortgage and all household bills by credit card with no help at all.

i eventually did find a good job, but am still paying of my credit card debt (and will be for a good few years to come).

Older and wiser, i would not hesitate to sign on now if i found myself in the same position again.

aah poor little fngernail.. would you be the same fingernail that posted a horrible comment earlier about the guy whose GF was killed in an accident and he was left to bring up the daughter alone?
Seems to me your GF got out at the right time - and got away from a very insensitive man! Perhaps she used the dole thing as an excuse to leave you ! I would!
fingernail, why the alias?

If I was entitled to it, I would claim it.

Fingernail wrote this about the little girl left without her mother...

is it a real baby or a silicone model of one that looks real? If it is silicone you could maybe sell it on ebay. If it is real then surely you could have it adopted by a loving familly? Like the simpsons? Google simpsons and find a contact us link. Then tell them your story. "

Nice guy eh! - Think his GF is well shot of such a jerk!

I don't think I am a hypocrite just for not wanting to sign on!!

And yes I use the Nhs, obviously because I need to.

It is a matter of personal opinion.

There is no need to be nasty and rude to people on here just because they don't agree with your views.
Maybe she wasn't actually entitled to it? If you leave your old job voluntarily there's a waiting period, isn't there?
