dodgy battery

i recently bought a motorla e398 on contract with t-mobile.i accidently took the battery out whilst it was on and now it won't switch on at all.do you think the problem is with the battery.if so,who can i contact for a replacement and will it be free?

If its on a recent contract, take the phone back to a T-Mobile shop and tell them it is faulty. They will then repair or replace it under the guarantee.
I wouldn`t have thought your actions were to blame for the fault but to be safe i wouldn`t mention to them what you did.
