I'm trying to find out about a John Lamprey a clock maker from Banbury in the mid 18th century. Can anyone help? I have already exhausted the web (I think) I'm looking for something specific.

Did you see my answer to this Q last week? I believe it was posted in the People and Places section. I found it shuffling and plussing (?) the appropriate words in Google. Good luck!
Question Author
Yes thanks but the article on the web site was an anwer to a question I had asked of the webmaster of that site. As stated before I'm looking for specifics not web pointers as I have already searched and searched to no avail.

Try 'Britten's Old Clocks and Watches and Their Makers'. It's the standard work of reference, ( with the name of the first author of it in the title). It should be accessible via the library service. It is still in print, too. The British Horological Institute ( www.bhi.co.uk ) who certainly have access to it may well have more ,as may the local library and local history society for the Banbury area.
