am i correct in thinking i'm entitled to a replacement car if the second hand car i just bought breaks down the next day and the fault cannot be found? its in the garage now less than 24 hours later having a part replaced! i have been lent a car in the meantime but after doing some research the prob they think it has quite often continues to cause probs. when i collected the car, garage said it wasn't quite ready & needed a part so i questioned it and 40 mins later was told car was now sorted and ready to go. im peeved i tell thee.

I don't know. Did the car come with a warranty? Did you buy it from a business seller?

How old is the car?

hi, car is 2002, has a 3 month warranty. they said on collection it needed a part but i had no way of getting to work without a car so i sat fro 40 mins and was told it was ok now. ive now read my rights and it appears that because ive received no benefit from my purchase i can ask for a refund. it is being repaired at mo so have to hope thats the end of the matter. ive been lent another car in the meantime.
Dont take offence at this answer, You should not have pushed for the car in the first place untill the fault had been sorted, the Garage have been good to help you out with a car, the car is still under warrantee so let them sort it, would this car be a Pug 306 by any chance?

no - a fiesta 2002. i didn't push - i simply said i needed a vehicle. it should have been ready for collection as arranged. it wasn't. as for a courtesy car, should i be grateful? i paid good money for that car and its not fit for its purpose. i collected it again today supposedly fixed - broke down on a huge roundabout with no warning lights to warn me, just completely cut out.engine stopped so no power steering etc. i nearly had a major accident. was back in dealers within 10 minutes. im awaiting managers call 2mro morning.thanks for your imput TWR
Hi again, If you cannot get satisfaction with the service they give you, I understand it can get you P----- off I would give them the chance within reason to put the car right & also ask the for some sort of compensation RE/ FULL TANK OF FUEL, other than that as you have said, reject the car due to the fact that they can not resolve the problem take a note of everything you have paid out during your inconveience.Good Luck.
