I don't know if this is the best section to plce this question, but here goes.
I have a plate purchased at a jumble sale many years ago. It has nothing written on the back, the front has large handpainted lowers, and the following words written on it .- 'I FURLANS SLUNGIN LIS ORIS TOR DAL VECIO FOGOLAR'. If any one is able to truly translate it, I would be most grateful.
It's definitely in Friulian/Umbrian Romansch - one word puzzles me a bit. Vecio could be old, but the usual word would be vieli. Assuming it is a variant of old, the phrase reads
Friulians draw out the hours around the old fireside
Vecio is definitely old - variant of standard Italian vecchio - comes up quite often with quotation marks around it in otherwise standard Italian texts - might be the equivalent to them of our writing 'auld' or 'owld' to emphasise a Scots or Irish pronunciation.
One last point, 'stretch out the hours' might be better than 'draw out'.
