Anne Bronte (Agnes Grey, Tenant of Wildfell Hall) is the only one of the famous sisters not buried in the family plot in Haworth. Instead she is buried in St Mary's churchyard,Scarborough. Her sister Charlotte felt it would be too much for her father to see another loved one die. Patrick Bronte had already buried his wife and his children Maria, Elizabeth, Branwell and Emily (literally, as he was the local priest). Anne was taken to Scarborough to convalesce where she died in 1849.

Alan Ayckbourn always premieres his plays in Scarborough at the Stephen Joseph theatre (named after its founder and in a listed former Odeon cinema) where he is artistic director. I think he lives in the town aswell.
