10a)There is a type of moth called Psyche but it doesn't tie- in with Bombycid.

4d) Could it be Leaper ? As they jump the hurdles as opposed to race on the flat.

Thanks again for your help Moonshadow - I'll check out psyche again as I can't find anything else to fit. Yes, leaper sounds better (I know zero about horseracing!)
