My friend is taking his 2 year old to Las Vegas , with 10 of his 2 to 3 year old mates , for his Birthday. They will stay in the Luxor Hotel and he has booked 12 pentouse suites. They will gamble and go clubbing for the entire week away.
I told him this was over the top ...even at only 10k per head.
So he is now going for option 2....A jelly and ice cream affair with a childrens entertainer.

can't believe i got pay so much but all the other mums round here are doing these sort of party plus me and baby grape share the same bday and dont like the idea of doin all the food and party games etc and then havin to tidy it all up where as now can have party for my boy then enjoy mine in the evening rather than fall asleep at 8pm
The party is for your kid . I am totally positive your child will not be concerned where the party was held or how much it cost. don't be seduced by one up manship, just go with what you think your child will enjoy
put the money you save in a bank account for him/her

i know he loves the play area so he will love it i just think the prices are well out of order
Kill two birds with one stone - invite your family and friends over together with the wee ones friends and their parents - hire a bouncy castle do some basic grub and ask people to bring a bottle and make a day of it. Don't have an indoor party in the summer. This will work out far cheaper, the kids will have a ball and you have plenty of people on hand to supervise the play - you can always state a tie limit on the invitations for the kids and their parents and keep family and friends on to carry on the party and to tidy up after the littlies have gone.

For food do some basic sarnies, sausage rolls and fairy cakes, couple of big bowls of crisps and get a tub of icrecream and do cones with sprinkles for afters.

Probably too little for a pinyata, but you could put some wrapped sweeties inside baloons then blow them up and let the kids pop them to get the sweeties inside.

I guarantee that the jones will be trying to keep up with you.

i live in a second floor flat other wise i would sob sob sob
Aw that's a shame - could you maybe do something joint with one of his friends and share the cost then? tbh he will never remember having the party anyway, you would be better to save your cash and have a party when he starts school. My kids had their first proper party when they were 4. before that they had a birthday tea with family and maybe had a friend or two over to share some cake.
Doesn't matter that you live in a flat oldgrape. Annie has the right idea. Kids don't understand the cost of these parties - and neither do they care. The best ones we ever had, were at home, with old-fashioned games and lots of paper plates with goodies on. It's easy to just pile up the rubbish into an old bin liner afterwards, and dispose of. A little bit of effort'll save you loads of money - and you'll probs have more fun as well. x

i know he won't remember but he's my little lad and want to spoil him rotten i lost a baby about six months ago so trying to make this party right. just think the play centre is well out of order for charging for my mates little bub
I can totally appreciate your motives, but I just hate the thought of being ripped of - it must be the scot in me!
Are you sure that they are really going to charge for a babe in arms? I would have thought that there should at least be a minimum age of about 9 months where at least they might be crawling or cruising and getting some benefit.

have asked but due to health and safety reasons any child who enters the building must have an invite (i.e fire etc) so has to be paid for also only one adult per child
why not party in the park.......with a huge picnic
