Does anyone have any experiences of living in Paris to share? Not just going on holiday for a brief period of time, but actually living in the city. I hope that at some point in the future(although not for a few years yet) that I might spend some time living in Paris. I would love to hear about anyone's experience of living in Paris, both positive and negative.

Yes, you just missed me. I was living in the 18th and 15th arrondissments between Feb and April then July and August. Paris is a tough nut to crack if you don't know it well and/or have no friends locally. Luckily for me I managed to meet quite a lot of people as I was working in the hotel industry at the time. I don't really know what you want to know, so if I can help out with anything post another note and I'll be happy to impart any nuggets of info I can! In the meantime, check out the Bombardier English pub round the back of the Panthon at the Jardin du Luxembourg. Always good for a british breakfast... :-)

Thanks for your answer russkii, sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you. I'd also like to know if it was expensive to live in Paris, compared with living in a city in the UK.
I lived in Paris for two months and a half in summer and it was a great experience. I lived with three of my friends on the eighth floor without a lift (151 stairs) in a small studio in 16th arrondissement but we enjoyed it very much. Well Paris is actually quite expensive but i don't suppose more than e.g. London. Public transport is cheaper in comparison, museum enties are often free. Everyday meals didn't cost much provide you buy cheapest food. Just as in the UK you can choose in a supermarket between cheap and expensive food. In fact, Paris is very safe a place, you can walk alone late at night and be sure nothing's gonna happen. Of course, depending on some amount of luck, but overally life in Paris is OK.
