How do I connect my lap top to the tv?

I don't know how to connect my lap top with the tv. My previous phone had a cable which plugged in th tv, but I'm not sure how or what I need to buy to for my lap top. Any ideas??

what laptop is it? what connectors has it got on it.... same for TV

They are not all the same you know... how it can be done will differ hugely depending on what connectors you have on both!

and whats your phone got to do with anythig :)

does it have an s-video output? if so, you can get a s-video converter which converts to rgb, the yellow cable then just plugs into the av on the telly

Thank you -Well, planning to buy a new tv soonish so what would you reccommend for a laptop with VGA output (or so I'm reliably informed!).

Phone mentioned just because I know it must be possible...

if your getting a new TV get a flat screen with a VGA input on it and buy a long standard VGA monitor lead and a 3.5 jack to twin phono lead for the audio and it will work.

for current TV if your laptop only has a VGA output and it's a normal TV with only a SCART input then can't easily be done.

I still can't work out how you could connect a phone to a TV!

Even if you can get the plug/socket problem sorted out, an ordinary LCD TV will still give a terrible picture when connected to a computer. The maximum resolution is far to low to give a decent picture quality..
