Hello everyone.
My wife has tried to buy a PAYG phone. Carphone Warehouse would sell the phone at 25 if she paid with her card but they would charge her 35 (10 more) if she paid cash for it.
Is this allowed? Why would they do that?

yes it is allowed - an analogy would be the electricity company who gives you a discount for paying by DD.the best thing she can do is refuse to buy and go elsewhere.
Another example might be that previously she may have said "do i get a discount for cash" and some shops might have said yes. There is nothing illegal about this

I think it is a bit more sinister - pay by cash and you are anonymous.

Pay by card and they know who has bought the phone.
