Ink cartridges

I have an Epson printer that uses 4 cartridges,but as you would expect the inks don't get used at the same rate.The black normally has about 15-20% left when the colours need replacing.Is it worth the bother of leaving the black in the printer and changing it when it's fully empty or do them all at the same time????? Thanks.

my epson hes 6 different inks and i only ever change them as each one runs out,i find its the cyan and magenta that run out the quickest.

My house has 12 light bulbs... do you think I should change them all as soon as one blows?

the reason that most printers now take 4+ separate cartridges is people used to complain that with the older all in one type colour cartridges they had to change all colours when one run out.

You can buy a little gadget on Ebay called a chip resetter. With this you can reset the cartridge chip so it shows full again, and you can actually use all the ink in the cartridge.

You'll be surprised how much ink you normally throw away.

Note that you need to have a new cartridge on hand. When any of the ink colours starts to fade you need to replace that one straight away to avoid ink in the jet of the printer head drying out. This would block it and with Durabrite ink it is not easy to fix.

sod originals at �7 each

if i want photos printed i do them at tescos or asdas

your epson cant compete on quality with them ever

or on price

Thanks for the info LQ. I've alwaysb wanted an opinion on comp.inks.How would you compare their quality from 1 to 10 to the originals? I know about getting the prints done from a shop but this is an old man's pastime.I'll carry on in ignorance and with a lot of help from AB'ers!!!

the inks pretty similar , can vary slightly dependant on brand.but even tescos and asdas are now doin their own compatables.ink is overpriced.
its a con.

these will be generic replacements but modified so the printer will continue to use 'em, even if the ink is low.

Yes only change the cartridge when it is empty.
Go to Viking Direct to purchase compatable cartridges plus many other stationery needs at good prices.
