ink cartridges: are they it worth it?

I've just bought a couple of replacement ink cartridges for use on my Epsom 740. Went to a dealer on the web as recommended on this site, boy they were cheap - under a tenner each - what a surprise, they don't work! Complete rubbish and a waste of money. Are all these firms selling so-called compatible ink cartridges just pulling a fast one or is some other foul deed at work? To me it looks like 'they' the printer manufacturers have us by the short and curlies!!

Check your Yellow Pages for Cartridge World - they are a worldwide franchise who refill cartridges for a lot less than buying replacement. I have a 670, and I got two filled while i waited for 6.00 each, and previous refills i have had have worked fine.
I bought some from a widely advertised (on the web)company. They were cheap - but unreliable in quality and quantity of ink.Several didnt work at all.I will see if theres a Cartridge world near me for future use.
I bought, on the net, 3 colour and 3 black cartridges for my 740 and you wouldn't knew them from the Epson ones. And the complete cost was a little over a tenner.

I would like to thank one and all, who have contributed. I haven't tried cartridge world, all I will say is if you do buy the genuine article from a major manufacturer, when it runs out, break the seal on top of the cartridge, i got an extra month's use from both my epsom cartridges!
