does any one think that if i got a twiggy branch from my garden and hung it in the water from the top of my light hanging down, would cause any infections,diseases, or problems to the water and fish?

I don't think hanging anything from the light into the water is a good idea.
the twig would sour the water.
It would depend on the wood. Beech and oak are considdered best but i would remove the bark first and soak for a few weeks or even try to boil the wood for an hour or so if you can.

Dont bother, risky.
Go to your fish shop and get some mopani or bogwood from them and just sit it on the floor of the tank.
Worth soaking it first as it may make the water go tea coloured.

i have 4 peices of bog wood in the tank any way but i want something hanging down from the top?
