We have just been speaking about being asked for ID for strange things. A 40+ lady in our office has just been asked for ID for plastic knives and forks... and the other she was asked for ID for a salt and pepper grinder..

I mean whats going on..you can go down the street and get offered drug after drug but asked for ID for basic household goods..

What is the weirdest thing you have been asked for ID for?

the other day i got refused alcohol (in my local asda, where ihave bought plenty before) because i wouldn't show id. i wouldn't have minded, but i am in my thirties and had my 14 year old son with me! i don't think they were concerned that i was buying it for him, but refused the sale on the grounds that i didn't have my id on me. pathetic!
I've heard f this happening a lot recently, but it hasn't happened to me - yet!

My son, when he was 14 or 15, was refused when he tried to buy a canteen of cutlery from Argos as a present for his mum and I.

Could have bought as many pen-knives or fishing knives as he wanted, though.

Crazy.
Yet last Saturday, when we went ten-pin bowling with a mixed party of adults and children (about a dozen of us in total), we were able to buy alcohol at the bar and take it out to the bowling lanes with no questions being asked.
