Do you stand for a bit in the newly run-hot bath?
Question Author
no, it's just from as soon as i get in to a couple of hours after my bath. this has been happening since i can remember, but my boyfriend commented on it one day & told me it was really weird for this to happen. the rest of my body stays its normal colour, it's just from about halfway down my shins that goes red/pink
It may be to do with poor circulation to your extremities. If you are concerned you should seek medical advice.

not so much concerned, more intrigued. but i do have awful circulation anyway, always have done. interesting suggestion!

it is because the hot water breaks the small blood vessles on the top of the skin making them show up red but as a whole rather than individual.

right... so why only my feet & ankles? and why does it fade? do the blood vessels magically heal after a couple of hours? it's like when you run your hands under hot water after you've been outside in the cold - they sometimes go red briefly, but soon return to their natural colour; but my feet stay red for a long time, and ALWAYS do this
