It's not worth arguing over is it?

Apart from when people pronounce the letter "H" as "HAITCH" When we should all know the correct pronounciation and spelling is "AITCH."

Mr.Piper.

Ever heard of CAPITAL letters? The letter 'I' on its own should always be capitalised, as should the beginning of every sentence.

...could your frustration at my assertion be caused by the fact that you also say LIKKLE &KEKKLE? and am now pondering the fact...

That 'am'...is there a bit of the Midlands in you?        And of course LIKKLE & KEKKLE look wrong written down - that's not how they're spelt!Random commas and excessive exclamation marks...tut tut...if you must rant on about grammar at least check your own first. Never heard of a dressing gownd either - must be just you.

People speak they way their families, friends and neighbours have spoken all their lives. Babies learn to talk not by reading, but by phonetic imitation - that's why people have accents, and also why little quirks of language appear.

However, I admit that I do find some verbal 'terrorism' very annoying - mainly the way Americans believe that they speak a language better than the country with the same name which has been speaking it for centuries...the way they alter perfectly good spellings and pronunciations of words for no good reason...

warrior   pronounced war yer
mirror   mee orr
vase   vayce
aluminium    aloominum
nuclear   nuc-u-lar
 leisure   leeshure
wardrobe   closet (not strictly the same but a good one I think!)
laboratory   lab-rat-ory
library    ly-berry
cellulite   cell-u-leet
buoy boo-ey
lever lev- ver
crematorium cream-atorium
anti an-tie
comrade com-rad

Finally, what the devil is your 'craw'?
