Just one parsing query from last Saturday :-

6Dn At West Ham, was required to get match fit (8) A?E?U?T?. The answer is likely to be ADEQUATE (fit). I understand that AD E is Cockney pronunciation for "HAD TO" (required to), and that EQUATE can stand for match, but the E of Equate has already been "used up" to provide the Cockney pronunciation of TO in HAD TO. So how does QUATE stand for match?

I know it's pedantic, but this is The Times, not The Irish Times, and rules are rules.
