Hair like thing coming out of the exhaust pipe.

I noticed today that a long hair like thing was hanging out my exhaust, it was long and black. What could it be?

If its what i am thinking it could be the Packing from the silencer.

It happened to me once. I was convinced a Bird had found its way in there !!!!

i agree as well it's the packing from the silencer, but watch if it all comes out you will have to buy a new silencer box as it will become noisy and affect your emmisions

The other thing that can happen is, and it happened to me is, The silencer packing can block the exhaust and the engine will stop running.

I took the long bonnet stay off and pocked it in the exhaust and it cleared it, the car ran perfectly after that without getting a new exhaust !

it because the cars getting old, it happens to us all...

It won't be long until it has hairs curling out from under the wheel arches too, and before you know it you'll be having to trim hair from all sorts of places on your car that you never knew could grow hair.

She stopped...DAMN IT !.

Said something about a " Long Black Hair" in her mouth ?.

Trouble is, I am as bald as Bruce Willis and she is Blond.

how silly can some people be? worn silencers my @ss....it's obvious that you have a cat in your exhaust....well it's just one of it's hairs isn't it! LOL

its the baffle packing breaking up, as toureman says you should make sure that this isnt causing a blackage otherwise the engine will struggle to breathe
