OK mums i needs your advice. my little girl is 13 weeks. she is very forward for her age. she will baby talk for hours she, she is always on the move last week she learnt how to roll from her back onto her side and back onto her back. she was holding her own head at 1 month. she will lift her hands to grab thing and it all goes into the mouth.
well now with the energy she is using and the more food she is demanding i think she maybe ready to be weaned. i know you have to wait till 6 months but she is not going to go that long. i have changed her milk for the hungrier baby and i am now giving her a little more. but she is still asking.

what can i do? has anyone weaned thier baby any earlier then 4 months? i am going out of my mind wanting to do the right thing. please help.

hi, all things you read in books are only guide lines, you know your baby best and if you feel she needs to start solids then try her. i weaned both my boys at 3 months as they needed more and i know alot of people that have too. just start her on little things and see how she goes tery things like

rusk, crushed up and mixed with her baby milk.

baby rice- you can always add things o it for extra flavour, my boys loved sugar free jam.

mashed potato

by 4 months my sons were eating all the things i ate but just a blended down version, potatoes, veg, mince meat etc

she is your daughter and all you can do is try different things untill you find what she likes. start with one or two tea spoons then gradually increase the amount as she gets older and used to the food.

good luck x
Have you spoken to your health advisor? I spoke to mine last week about it as my daughter is doing all the very same things as yours, apart from rolling over, and she was 10weeks yesterday. Initially I thought she may be teething as she is ramming everything within reach into her mouth, but I think she has just learnt where her mouth is and now she has something new to do! She, too, was holding her head up from a very young age and sleeping through from 5weeks but I don't think mine is ready to be weaned just yet. My HV advised me to up her feeds one at a time to 7oz, then when she is on 7oz all day on each bottle and is still not satisfied then to try hungry baby milk.

You know your baby better than anyone and if milk isn't satisfying her anymore then you're probably right xx
I weaned both my daughters at about 3 months for the same reason.

I made up very milky baby rice (in the lid of their sterilised bottles!!)

They are 16 and 18 now and perfect!
Definitely have a word with your HV as they will best advise you. Although you know your child better than anyone, the HV will give you reasons for why they give you different guidelines!

When my son was a baby, the guideline was 4 months now its 7 months as they say it lessens the risk of bowel disorders.

They seem to change the goal posts all the time but I think you should ask HV before going ahead!
I tried weaning my littlest one at 12 weeks as he was constantly starving but he ended up bringing all his food back up as his oesophagus wasn't strong enough at that age. He was treated on baby Gaviscon and then weaned him again at 5 months with no problems. This may have been caused by the fact my son was 6 weeks prem, but it may not have been. I would do like the others said and consult your HV. If I was you (and you know your baby best) then I would try some baby rice and give her a rusk to suck on and see how she goes, just don't give her too much to start with. x
it could just be a growth spurt so speak to your health visitor before trying to wean.

both mine have been holding head up since a few weeks old and have had amazing growth spurts where they eat constantly.

My 9 week old is also putting anything in her mouth too, it looks like shes hungry but she cant be all the time.

How much is your baby taking for feeds? and how often?
Be very careful, youre baby may be forward, but it does mean her tummy an digestive system are. If she is already having big feeds, have you tried her with milk for hungrier fed babies first? I started weaning mine at 15 + 4 weeks. Anything below 15 weeks is considered a big no no as it can be harnful to baby. Although I daresay there are some who have been weaned at the age without any problems.

I started mine off with just a little baby rice at tea times after her bottle. After a couple of weeks, I started offering her some at lunch times too and also started introducing different flavoured baby cereals. She is now 19 weeks old, still on two meals a day and Im now starting to blend homecooked vegetables and fruit into the baby rice as a first step to getting her on to the foods we eat.

My baby was also holding her head up at a few weeks old and everything goes into her mouth.... even in the middle of feeding! lol Its amusing how she loses her temper when she can hold something but cant get it in her mouth. She had a toy arch on her pram but I had to take it off because she can reach out and grab the toys, but they dont reach her mouth and would growl and shout at it! lol
years ago babys were weaned from as younas 6weeks. do what yi ou think is right i started weaning at 3months with my first for the same reason as you hejust kept wanting feeding and with my second i weaned at 6 months go with how you feel and what baby is telling you. just babyrice or pureed fruit tostart and see how you go.
