Definately, if only for the boat ride from Portsmouth. IOW is a beautiful island with sandy beaches, quite rural and plenty of crustaceans (crab & prawn dishes). The people are welcoming and friendly. Go to Shanklin.....I like that the best.

Are you going at HM pleasure? She has a special place there!

Well if I decide to go it will be paid for from Her Majesty's pension, so yes it will be at her pleasure.

For some reason my lovely fiance wants to visit there.

The google images do look nice though.

And you can't go wrong with a crab sandwich with plenty of black pepper can you?

The waiting lists in USA are not like here. You can basically set it a week or two before.

Probably the end of October.
I like the IOW and have a friend who lives there ,hence I have visited it quite often .
Even my fussy brother liked it when he went a couple of years ago..Lots of lovely clean beaches.Osborne House is well worth a visit .Shanklin is pretty with all the thatched cottages Don't go when Cowes Week is on though ,as you will be inundated with Hooray Henry ,jolly yachting and boating types .
There is the best model village at Godshill I have even seen and you've got Carisbrooke Castle and Museum .
It's been designated an area of outstanding natural beauty and if you go to Tennyson Downs you will see why .

"For some reason my lovely fiance wants to visit there". Well, Wobbly, you have confirmed my suspicions. I was fairly certain that no decent woman would have you and now you tell us that you have found a lovely man. I think the IOW's would prefer it if you kept away though. Keep churning it out!!
Caution: It's England's Guantanoma (dont know how to spell it) so stay inconspicuous.

Dont motor down at w/e as roads are gridlocked.
Whitecliff Bay is gorgeous, it's a lovely stroll over the headland to Sandown. For me it is memories of a Bible Class camp with pale hot chocolate in a marquee at night and gutting thoughts of the boyfriend left at home. Go, you will love it, but please take your litter home with you.
I have had some briliant hols in the Isle of Wight it is a lovely place with many little villages and ports etc of interest. If you have never been before then I highley recommend a visit you will not be diisappointed.
Mr CRXs mum lives there and his sister and family.

Did you knwo that the ferry trip over is the most expensive water crossing in the world or soimething. At peak times it has cost us 150 for a return ticket to travel 2 miles across the solent!

Its a lovely place to visit.
