finding bands

Does anyone know a good website for finding bands similar to the ones I already like? - so if I type in a band/artist it brings up a list of similar sounding acts I might like.

You type in your 3 favourite bands and it will suggest others you may like.

I use Amazon quite a lot for research, search for you favourite band's CD's and then see what other people have bought and also what lists it appears on and check out the reviews, people often say things like "great but not as good as X by Y", found some gems becuase of that.

Plus they often have download clips of songs so you can get a taster.

www.allmusic.com although it has changed recently. i don't think it is as good as it used to be

Used to be www.ubl.com (The Ultimate Band List) but I think that may be the allmusic site now.  Search for a band, and it will bring up similar bands at the bottom of the biography.

you type in a band and you get a big spider map of similar bands.
