repair grants for rewires etc anyone heard of this or am i been stitched up

No, my mum and dad had ther house rewired, gas central heating installed and new windows put in last year.

 

They had to pay about �1k towards the cost, the council paid the rest, and they own their house, it isn't a council house.

 

I assume they had to qualify for it and I don't know what the criteria are but you obviously can get a grant for this kind of thing.

nomally the criteria for such grants is either to be of retirement age or on certain benefits i.e income suppourt or DLA (disability living allowance).
