I believe one is analogue(video) and the other digital (DVD) so you would probably require some form of adapter ? Ive had a look on google and apart from various organisations offering to do this at a fee, there appearsto be numerous items available.

Philips, and other major brands do standalone dvd recorders to which you can connect an analogue vcr .That ought to do the job.  All the leading electrical retailers sell them. I think richer sounds do, i prefer them cause they seem to know what they are talking about compared to the spotty oiks in , say, Dixons!

As far as selection goes, i say avoid combos (dvd and vcr in 1) which are less reliable and often do the job less well than 2 separate dedicated units. Also stick with brand names and you should be Ok - there are many el-cheapo no name brand dvd recorders coming out these days and I have yet to see a good review or hear of anyone with good experiences of them.
