poor value of pound against euro

anybody know why the value of the euro is so high compared with a couple of years ago ?

partly the euro being strong, partly the pound being weaker (sterling is still ok against the US dollar, because that's weaker still). It's more or less to do with the economies of the areas involved. The main economy in the euro zone is Germany, which is doing better than Britain because it didn't get involved with subprime mortgages and housing bubbles and didn't move away from industry to financial services.

yea some good points there but i feel 20% drop in value quite shocking,does the value vary much from country to country with in the euro zone,j(ust interested really)?
Do you mean does the euro go further in some countries?

When I was in Tenerfie in February there was a protest march because of the rocketing food prices.

no not reaaly,does the exchange rate vary much within different eu countries,
