Should this woman have been let off so lightly? If it had been a man would he have got off so lightly?

There is no suggestion that this poor man abused his wife in any way, his only "crime" was to be disabled.

Do you hate women as much as you hate blacks?

I don't believe that she was let off lightly because of her gender. I think it was down to the court recognising that she could not cope with her circumstances and was under stress at the time. She called the police herself and begged for help by the sounds of things.

I don't think was an evil woman at work, one at the end of her tether. She needed a different set of circumstances and more help caring for him. Prison would have been a waste of money, I don't think she needed rehabilitating, I doubt she was a threat to anyone else. A good psychiatric evaluation for her, with some counsselling and treatment possibly and the wake up call to herself to admit that she couldn't cope on her own.

I think this is a sign of the times myself. People look after themselves these days. Community spirit isn't what it was.

Do you honesly believe a judge would have been so lenient with a man? If one had, there would be many on this site baying for his blood.

under stress at the time.

What about this poor chap?

She needed a different set of circumstances and more help caring for him.

You call that caring for him? What if she had treated a disabled child the same?

I doubt she was a threat to anyone else.

Oh! that's alright then, what a relief.

to admit that she couldn't cope on her own.

She didn't do a bad job on her own, what did she need some help from a couple of heavies with baseball bats?

People look after themselves these days.

Pity this poor chap wasn't given the chance to, he would have been in much safer hands.
Look, AOG, I'm not condoning it but you have to look at the circumstances. I suffered worse domestic violence than that and because of this I know many other women who have also, and yes I do believe they would be so leniant on a man! 80 quid fixed penalty notice for breaking into your house and trying to kidnap your children, police scaring you off taking things any further because it will just air your dirty laundry in public etc etc Its path of the course for men to be let off doing this and you are all up in arms because it is a woman.

Yes but !!!!!

Of Mrs Wragg, the judge said: "I have no doubt she was complicit. Had I concluded otherwise I should have formed a harsher view. I accept that you [Andrew Wragg] would not have taken Jacob's life had you, for a moment, thought that she disagreed with what you were to do.

In other words had he had done it on his own, he would have not been let off so lightly.
Just where, out of interest, were Social Services when you need them.
The Government seem to consistently want to rule our lives - but only when it suits them (ussually when they can extract cash from you I suppoe).
AOG. I agree totally with you. If it had been a man the jail doors would still be ringing and all the 'liberals' on this site would be crying for the woman he attacked.
The thing that got me is that she went back after calling in Plod to continue the attack. That action in itself shuold have constitued Jail.
I also disagree with the sentiment that she is unlikely to hurt anyone else. She clearly has a pressure problem and no doubt is still more pressured than most even now. Who knows exactly how much she can take before lashing out at someone.

Should have at least been Jail whilst her mind was evaluated. This would difuse her situation and fully ensure public saftey
Have any of you judgemental people ever had to care for someone 24 hours a day 7 days a week as well as hold down a full time job? Unless you have you have got no idea of the damage this causes to mental and physical health. Its easy enough to say that she could have called Social Services for help but they are a much under funded part of the care system and quite often will do nothing even if the carer is at breaking point.
I once asked for help with my disabled son and was told that unless I harmed my children I wasn't considered a priority,I never did get any help and luckily I coped alone at the time and am still coping without any Social Services input at all.
I think Goodsoulette answer is 100% spot on

Not to condone the actions of the woman, but it seems highly unlikely that a Judge given his gender and probable social class is some sort of woolly, feminist, do gooder who picks on men and lets women off lightly. The judgement was more likely based on the evidence in court than a newspaper report or AOG's highly prejudicial viewpoint.

But, maybe AOG is right and the establishment, including male judges are all now loony leftwingers out to discriminate against the vulnerable white male. Perhaps a National or Royal protection society ought to be formed to protect the hard done by white British male before it is hounded out of existence
How many WOMEN get battered by their husbands? How many WOMEN get nearly smothered by their husbands?

It is estimated that a quarter of women experience domestic violence in their life times and men get off of these charges all the time.
Some of your friends do it. I know people who think certain men are the salt of the earth. Yet I know, they have battered their girlfriends/wives.

If anything, courts systematically let men off of these crimes.. Go and spend just one day working for the samaritans/a refuge and you will see. Is that not news to, or is it just acceptable that men will do this to their wives?
