I have recently received eight old-style (Florence Nightingale) ten pound notes from a relative abroad - they are in perfect condition, no marks, creases etc.

Does anyone know what their value is to a dealer - I have seen early issues of this note going for 30 apiece so I am naturally relunctant to exchange them - which I have been assured that I can still do.

Any way of identifying age from the serial numbers?

some years ago i came into possesion of 40 v old 1 pound notes (pre decimal) all mint and in series. I took them to a dealer who valued them at 1 pound each! the rule of thumb with notes is if the are from first run batches or a new print run with a new chief cashiers signiture the could be worth more than face value. lets hope you have better luck than I did.
