I need help to get me started!

1&24 down- Artist's medium in representation masking most of gold-coloured hydrant in fuzzy lines- it's boring (6,6

11&25down- Captivated band of volunteers climbing col seals burst vent emitting gas and mud (5.5)

NOTE- Each clue is really two clues,side by side but not overlapping,to the two answers of the same length. Either answer may be clued first and the division not necessarily marked by definition.

Just realised that either answer may be clued first.
Which means that 35 across is Secularity, rather than
12 across.
Have Aura Popularis for 31 across, Epulis for 20 down

Thank you both for your help and especially BlueIce for taking the trouble to come back with a minor correction and some additional information.

I can usually manage the standard Azed but this one is a step to far and I now realise my limitations.
