I would like to buy 100 or so of shares in a FTSE 100 listed company as a present, and so would like to have the physical certificate, not hold them in a nominee account or electronically. Does anyone know how to go about doing this?

Many large companies sell their stocks through the big banks, such as Lloyds TSB Registrars, so I would suggest to speak to the sharetrading areas of these, for example Barclays Stockbrokers etc.  Also, if you go to investor centers on the internet sites of large companies, they often list brokers who people commonly invest through.  If you phone up the companies themselves, i'm sure they'd be happy to discuss the availability of certificates.

However, talk to your bank sharesdealing section for a more general response........sorry I can't be much more help than this!
