Ok well it seems like I have caused too much offence with my user name. I will change it but how do I do this?

Unbelievable. I don't care if this new user is really an old one, or if people are affected by the name. There is NO justification in using such words as DocSpock has. Doc, you should be utterly ashamed of yourself. I cannot believe what I've just read, honestly. Maybe it was attention seeking, maybe it was a genuine mistake, maybe it's a wind up, but NOONE should be allowed to talk to another user that way!!!!
There has been scores of distateful usernames, some worse than other. How on earth does that justify mocking suicidal or bereaved people??? You're as bad as each other!
