Hi everyone,
I'm considering getting my Dad a bottle of 25yr old malt whiskey for my parents Silver wedding in may. I have NO CLUE when it comes to whiskey, but surely there must be good and bad ones. Which one/s do people recommended? Thanks! :-)

You are spelling Whiskey with an 'e' does this mean you are looking for Irish Whiskey or do you mean Scottish Whisky?
If it's a Scotch you're after, few would disagree that Macallan's 25 year old Single Malt is one of the best there is. It's not cheap, though!
Read about it here
If you want something a bit different, you should look at the Springbank website. They only sell very good singlemalts from their own distillery, and you can get them in just any shop. Even better, you can join the Springbank Club free of charge, and this entitles you to buy a bottle of their current Limited Edition. My BF loves god single Malt, and has raved about the Spring Bank ones since he discovered them. The most recent limited edition he has bought is a 16 year old rum wood expression- the whisky is casked for a period in barrels made from rum barrel wood, definately something different. Or they have more traditional older ones...Def worth a look!
It depends what kind he likes.
Ones from Isla etc are more peaty others have different characteristics.
You could go for the usual supermarket types like Glenfiddich, Glenmorangie etc, but if you are looking for something more special, you could try Laphroaig, Talisker, Glenfarclas 105 (but thats cask strength lol around 60%).
Does he drink whisky now? what does he have at home?

Whiskey/Whisky.... I didn't know there was a difference! Currently he drinks Macallan, so I'm hesitant to buy another bottle of that (something different is a good option I think). I'll have a look at the Springbank website, thanks!!
Have a look here - http://www.whiskyshop.com/

They have a fairly large selection of malts and supply via mail order.
If I may... from the nether side of the Atlantic, I'd like to suggest that you consider Old Bushmills Millennium Malt (Cask No 227). In 1975 Bushmills Distiliiery put to cask a limited edition of their Single Malt whiskey (Uisce beatha). If you can locate it and if you're on good relations with your banker, your father will be grateful until the bottle is finally empty of its golden, smoky nectar. It is rare, but well worth the hunt. Here in the U.S., it's limited to one bottle per patron...
