Conran shop (Brompton Cross, Marylebone High Street, etc.) sell champagne flutes with 'open' stems. However, beware washing up nightmares (i.e. impossible), and astonishing 'splashback' when lowering the glass after taking a sip/slurp...

and you wouldn't want to hold the glass by the stem or you'd get some nice warm wine in the bottom. mmm.
