Hi all, does anyone know what the little bit of material is called that perches itself on the top of a beret? You know, that little rectangular bit that I think is often black. Any help is much appreciated and worth a glass of wine to anyone passing through Garforth in West Yorkshire. Thank you in anticipation. Dave xxx

I don't know if this helps Dave but when I was a child some 50+ years ago my mother habitually wore berets, and the part to which you refer was known in our house as the tuft.
It is sometimes known as a 'pip'
You could contact Kangol. They've been making berets for years.

Thank you all, three different answers but all good. You have narrowed the search down to three points, this is better than searching the dictionary word by word! You are all stars. Thank you hugs and snogs from me xxx
Pleasure Dave. If you should ever find out the real answer, if there is one, perhaps you would think to post it on here for us. It may be one of those things, like the the area behind the knee, which has no name. It just - is!

By the way, when cherrycherry, Tallulah! and I arrive on your doorstep all together, shall we be given a glass of wine each or shall we be expected to share the one?! ;0)
