Chicago gangster TV series

My boyfriend is trying to remember the name of a 70s or 80s TV drama about a young boy growing up in Chicago who eventually became a gangster. He think It was a 3 parter and the title of the series was the boy's name or nickname. Help!

This was called The Gangster Chronicles and followed the rise of "Lucky" Luciano, Ben Segal and Michael Lasker. They were friends from school age and unusual in the fact that Lasker was a Jew who became Luciano's book keeper. Segal was Luciano's hench man and later became one of the first Mafia to build a casino in Las Vegas.It was released on Video and I have tried every where to get a copy without luck. So if any one can help it would be appreciated
