Take a look here, this is from the main page www.theanswerbank.co.uk

The AnswerBank is a Community Question and Answer site. It was conceived as a central point where users can ask genuine questions and receive helpful answers, and, on occasion to provide a forum for debate on issues of general interest. It is not intended for use as a chat room. We reserve the right to remove postings that lead the site away from its intended purpose - to be a helpful and accurate service.
been done 2 or 3 tims. answerbok went pear shaped (bit loopy). answer book was scots bloke. Dirrty pictrs, n stuff. bad news. Also gone bnust. Start anothr one if u like.

bobski - Answerbook has not gone bust and don't know where you get the dirty pictures thing from.

Eggerbanner there is a yahoo group called Answerbook who are all friends of Answerbank, This membership criteria is extremely strict and I wouldn't describe it as a chat group although chat does occur between members. If you are interested I suggest you do a search within yahoo groups.

This is one of the criteria for joining. Find us first and go from there. Links are just too easy.

It's been done twice.  Answerbok indeed disbanded.  Answerbook celebrated it's first birthday today and is an active group.  It isn't formally linked to this site, however it describes itself as being for friends of answerbank and most members have come via here.  The group is populated by members who enjoy chatting, having a bit of fun, and supporting each other.  It's an adult group because we are all adults, but there is nothing dodgy about it!

Your're forgiven BB.

Eee, by gum bobski.... where did you get that idea from...???  ''Dirrty pictrs, n stuff. bad news. Also gone bnust.''

1 year old today, celebrating in style and not a dirty picture in sight!!!

Well, brawburd and Lindy Loo, there must be something about about Answerbook that is unsavoury, because Yahoo have placed at the entrance a clear warning that the site comprises material of an adult and mature nature and that it is unsuitable for youngsters.

Sludge, I think you will find that that is a standard warning put onto the group by Yahoo.

When you start a Yahoo group up you have to choose a category for your group. i.e. Business & Finance, Computers & Internet, Cultures & Community etc etc. As a general heading you can choose Adult, which simply means that the group is for adults and may not always be suitable for children. i.e. the odd swear word, adult orientated topics of conversation etc.

I would suggest sludge that you visit Yahoo before making rash assumptions.

what an odd assumption Sludge.  Adult doesn't equal unsavoury.

"it is better to die on your feet than to live on your knees"

Such wise words.

Only the odd swear word on Answerbook (and these are never the really awful ones)and we don't even have an automatic editor.  And as for dirty pictures I haven't seen any.  Just a group of people who initially came together on AB and who enjoy each others company and are very supportive.  I certainly wouldn't mind any young child seeing what we post!  I can't say that of Answerbank.

As Wraith says Sludge, it's a warning from Yahoo because it is classed as an Adult site.  It's covers Yahoo's back.  I would certainly never contribute to a dodgy internet site!

Having read that back I should apologise to you sludge for being harsh. I can offer no excuses for speaking to you like that.

Thank you wraith, brawburd, lodekka and Fakeplastic. The explanations by wraith and Fakeplastic are, of course, accepted and "unsavoury" is completely withdrawn. Best wishes to all.

How does one find said group?

I searched in Yahoo Groups (both UK and US) to no avail.

Try harder
