After six years as chief inspector of schools, Chris Woodhead wrote an abrupt 5-lined letter to the Education Secretary David Blunket saying: 'the time has come for me to move on and make a contribution in different ways'. Subsequent reports have indicated that Mr Woodhead has been offered a job as leader writer and columnist on the Daily Telegraph Newspaper, and will also take up work as a private consultant.
