is there any way to download the latest version of itunes without having to download quicktime automaticaly too.

iTunes actually uses Quicktime for audio and video playback.

This is why it's a required download too -- if they update iTunes or Quicktime, the other needs to be updated, because they're linked.

So, you need to update both.
