my daughter will be coming to stay with me for a while after she has her baby in 5 weeks time and i would be grateful for any advice on how to introduce my dog to the baby. my dog is an 11yr old cross labrador/staff bitch who ive had for 3 yrs. she is a very calm and loving dog towards adults and children, including stangers but she has been aggressive towards other dogs in the past.
my daughter was living here until 4 months and the dog adores her. obviously the dog will never be left alone with the baby but i would like to know what would be the best way for the dog not to be jealous of the baby. many thanks

Just don't neglect giving the dog it's usual amount of attention - this can often happen when a new baby comes into the household. Make sure she still feels like part of the family and include her as much as possible and don't deny her access to the room the baby is in whilst you are there. Also make sure she gets her usual amount of exercise.

Most dogs will adjust very well given this sort of consideration.
Same way that you would treat a sibling when you introduce a new baby, really!
Stroke the dog and let her smell the baby, whilst saying all the pleasant words she understands, such as "nice, good.." etc.

Obviously you don't leave unattended babies with any dog, but if she's fine with people, as most labroadors and staffies are, I don't think you'll have any trouble with her. x
