You may be interested to know that 'English' horn is in fact a corrupted form of the original name of this (Italian) instrument - it should really be 'angled' horn, on account of the twirly angled mouthpiece that it uses (unlike its little sister the oboe which has a straight mouthpiece). On the other hand, a French horn really was french!
reece1 -- are you sure you want to spend so long dropping in questions that you know the answer to? It's not what this site is really about , is it? Most people are asking questions because they *don't* know the answer.. and if obo hadn't spotted what you were up to, you could have sent people off researching lengthy answers that you already knew!
