How do I delete obsolute searches?

you can delete everything on Internet Explorer via tools - internet option - delete files. On Firefox it's tools - clear private data. Is that what you mean?

Thank you very much. I did not wish to delete all searches.

I just entered "a" in the search box, highlighted one the first one I wanted to delete and deleted it. The next in line became highlited, I deleted that and so on...at a rate of 40/min. I skipped the ones I wished to retain. Surpisingly, very few!
