Hi there

My cousin recently applied to joinon eof the police Forces in this country.

He completed the selection process but was rejected at the last stage as there was something wrong inhis background.

He was never cautioned, never committed any crime...any other suggestions...

Thanks

Bart

Has he asked them why they rejected him?
That must be the best way to find out and if there has been a mistake he can correct it.
if he did a CRB check he would of been sent a copy of the results, check again and if there is an error fight it
He might be a paedophile and hasn't told you.
As the background check includes close relatives, perhaps it's one of those.
Ask the police, they may tell you but it may be confidential.
apparently if someone in the family or distant family have ever been involved wit the police, even for a caution, the police steer clear.
Hi

Having worked with the Met Police I think I can give a little insight into the background checks.
Basically when you fill out the application form you have to put down the name and address of your parents and/or your parents significant others. The police check the information that you give them (and I suppose other onfo that they find) and that determines whether you are accepted. If it's not your cousin that had the record, it's most likely his mom or dad, or could even be someone else in the family. They always state that they cannot disclose the info to you so unless you press your family members, your cousin won't really stand a chance in finding out. Bit of a joke but that's the way it goes. Hope this helps.
It could also be picking up if he has had any affiliations with or memberships of any political or social Party. In the past being a registered member of a socialist party or a political activist- against animal research etc could show up and be counted against you. Even if you join up at college and never actually get involved, it can be there lingering...
