My Girlfriends mother got a joint mortgage for 50,000 20 years ago with my girlfriends father (they were never married) she alone paid the deposit of 12,000 and she has paid the mortgage payments on her own for the past 20 years. When they split she never removed him from the mortgage. Now he is threatening to force her to sell, and he wants 50% of the profit. Can she do anything to stop him from forcing her to move out, or to get any money from her?

I am not sure if she can prove it, she can get bank statements but i think u can only get them going back a few years?

he never paid anything, and they split not that long after getting th mortgage, although he did keep coming back
Would advise you to go to the Citizens Advice Bureau initially who may give you some simple advice and probably advise you, as redcrx suggests, to see a solicitor.
I would post this in the Law category as well.
well she should at least be able to prove that he hasnt lived there for almost 20 years?
She needs to get urgent legal advice.

As he is legally a joint owner - his name is on the Title exactly as hers is - he owns it just as much as she does and has the same entitlements.

Who has paid what is more important where one HAS been paying in but isn't on the Registered Title.
