Ok firstly, I came up to a crossroads with 2 sets of traffic lights: one to turn right and the other to go straight on. I was gonna go turn right, but then remembered i had to go straight on that day: the light for which was red. So i reversed back over the Stop line into the lane I had come from, the one to turn right. By the time i had done this the traffic lights were red. Is there anyway i will be fined/considered to be passing a red.

is there a camera on the lights
If I understand it, the right lane one was green when you crossed the line, so no.

When i reversed over, the lights had turned red, but not when i first passed it. Also I am not sure whether there were cameras, there was the sensor box thing on top of the lights.
In future I recommend you continue your manouvre and go around the block. Problem solved and no visit from the Old Bill !

Thank you Derek. But for my situation now, that doesn't help.
