My computer recently froze when the monitor was unplugged and since will not startup. It goes through normal boot sequence to the XP loading page... then nothing happens, the screen stays black.

I've tried re-covering from the XP CD but at the end of re-installing it reboots and the above still happens!

Also tried F8 on startup and starting up in safe mode.. which works but when i try to restore the setting to the last time it worked it will only give me the option of recent dates and neither work!!

HELP!!!!! thanks....stoory

Oh yeah... and when re-covering from CD it gives the following error message aswell:

"The software you are installing for this hardware:
NVIDIA Ge Force MX/MX400 (Microsoft Corp.)
has not passed Windows Logo testing to verify its compatibility with Windows XP.

Continuing your installation of this software may impair or destabilize the correct operation of your system either immediately or in the future.  Microsoft strongly recommends that you stop this installation now and contact the hardware vendor for software that has passed Windows Logo testing."

???????????????????????

start up in safe mode or vga mode, and remove the graphics driver. Boot normally then re-install the graphics drivr from the cd or find the latest driver on the net.
http://www.nvidia .com for the drivers by the way.
