Commonest English words

Does anyone have a URL for a simple linguistic problem - which is a list of the 200 commonest used English words
and for that matter the commonest 1000 words ?

Not sure about the commonest 200 words, but have heard once that 10 words make up about 25 percent of everything we say. I was not told what these were though.

Could tell you the most common word used at our workplace, but it too rude and would get me chucked out of Answer Bank.

The lists exist, as I used to have one for French. Any language course should take you through all of them - an obnvious point but one which neva occurred to any of my many language masters at skool
