Given one last year. After flowering stopped, was told to cut off all growth and place pot in a cool dark place over the winter. Can't remember the rest of advice. Do I start watering or should I replant remains in new compost? Thank you for any advice.

I'd knock out the existing bulbs and take off most of the old compost and repot into fresh.

Start watering, keep them warm and you should have new growth within a month.

Not often seen these days....but lovely plants

Thank you Hammerman - I wasn't sure, better to ask. Yes, they flowered all summer.
