How much will the dentist extract from me to remove a single tooth? Private or NHS amounts would be useful.

I've had a tooth extracted this week, but it was included in a course of treatment on NH rates, which have 3 bands-don't know exact costs, but in the region of �16, �45, + �190.
I'm guessing that if all you need is 1 tooth out, it will be in the middle band.

actually i think extractions are in band 3 = about 190 quid as bathsheba says

I had a tooth out earlier this year at a Private dentist ..fourty quid .Last year the same dentist extracted three back teeth at once ..sixty quid.. seems as if it gets cheaper by the tooth ! Pull one get one pulled free. :) No idea about NHS..sorry .

Currently under the NHS single or multiple elective extractions under the same course of treatment generate a patient charge of �44.60 (as of April 1st 2008)

Privately will vary very highly from dentist.
Believe it or not it can be cheaper than the NHS but often more expensive.
Probably between �40 - �100

The above private prices are assuming that the extraction is non surgical and under local anaesthetic not sedation

As I heard that some patients are pulling out their own teeth with pliers maybe I can just afford the prices you quoted.
