I have a cherry tree in the garden, and a glorious sight it is too around this time of year, laden with beautiful white blossom. This year for the first time, I have seen pigeons eating the flowers rather than waiting for the fruits. I have shot 30 or 40 so far (air rifle, bedroom window) but why can't the moronic gits wait for the fruit?

Does any species have any instinct beyond gratification and greed?

Ants.

They work as a unit, everyone knows their place and all are valued. I've seen it argued that they're a great example of marxism I think.

My daughter decided to regale her class with a story about the pigeon who visits our garden ... all was well until she was asked what was the name we must have given it as a regular visitor ... she said she would rather not say ... oh come on was the answer ... unfortunately for her teacher we had named it ) inspired by the New Statesman : Fat B'stard! I think I'll swerve parents evening this term! lol.

(We have lost the cherry trees round here to blight unfortunately. )
Talking of pigeons, can anyone confirm that they do carry more diseases than rats, as I have heard, and if so what are these illnesses?

By the way it is now illegal to feed them in Trafalgar Square, and you can be fined up to 500, even though I still do this. So be warned, Big Brother is watching you!
You claim to have shot 30 or 40 pigeons and you call them moronic gits??????
